This year’s Business Person of the Year Peter R. DeMallie

  Peter DeMallie has served South Windsor, the business community and the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce in an unparalleled fashion. Peter DeMallie came to South Windsor in 1979 to become the community’s first full-time Director of Planning during a high growth period. In May of 1986 Peter left the Town’s employ to start Design Professionals, Inc. In the 21 years of Design Professionals, Inc., they have offered site planning & engineering, traffic engineering, landscape architecture and land surveying services, initially throughout Connecticut, but more recently expanding into Western Massachusetts.
  For the last 24 years Peter DeMallie has represented the Town of South Windsor on the board of directors of the regional tourism district. Peter is currently the President of the SummerWind Regional Performing Arts Center in Windsor and a charter member of the American Planning Association.
  Peter has not only served the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce as a member for over 20 years but he has also been an active committee member. He was the SWCC President from 1992-1993, a board member from 1988-2003, served on the Executive Committee from 1990-1994, and a legislative committee (now CDRC) from 1987-1992, 1993-1997. Peter has been an ambassador since 1994.
  Peter is very involved in the community. He can be seen and will donate a raffle prize for nearly every fundraiser in South Windsor. Peter’s business, Design Professionals, Inc. may conduct only a percentage of their business in South Windsor but they are involved with nearly 90% of the building that goes in South Windsor. Recently Peter’s business donated hundreds of hours pro bono for the Boundless Playground.
  Peter and his family have lived in South Windsor for 17 years. His wife, Anne, is the Comptroller at DPI, his daughter Erin works at the South Windsor Chamber, and his son, Peter recently moved back to Connecticut and is working at Travelers in Hartford.
