Spring 2008: The Village at Waterman Lake receives Defieciency Free rating for second consecutive year by the RI Department of Health!
Free confidential memory screenings will be available on Tuesday, November 18 as part of National Memory Screening Day, an annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) designed to improve overall health maintenance and promote proper detection of memory problems. The Village at Waterman Lake will hold memory screenings at 715 Putnam Pike, from 2-4 pm. Registered Nurses will be on hand to conduct the tests to answer any questions in private rooms. Results are completely confidential. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 401-949-1333. “We’re proud to be a site for this year’s National Screening Day”, says Linda Martin, Director of Nursing for The Village, “Not only does this test help people determine whether or not they should begin exploring treatment options for memory loss, but this test also gives people a baseline against which to compare future test results if and when their memory loss progresses.”
In November, we celebrate another day near and dear to our hearts as we honor those who know the true meaning of "honor" and "sacrifice"; our Veterans. We will recognize Veterans Day on the 11th with celebrations in each of our three buildings followed by a moving tribute to all our Veterans the following Saturday, November 15th. Join us as the Kentish Guard salutes our more than 65 Veterans here on the Village campus in an inspirational ceremony beginning at 11am.
Then on Thursday, November 20th, the Associate Medical Director of Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, Dr. Joan Teno, conducts a CEU seminar here at The Village on the improvement of care for people with dementia. This event is open to community Nurses and Social Workers.
As we near the holiday, what better way to say thanks than to recognize those selfless individuals who help make our campus extraordinary? The Village is pleased to host its 3rd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception on November 20th at 3 pm. More than fifty resident and community volunteers will be honored at this special tribute in the Chalet Function Room. (This event is by invitation only.)
