Brian Eckblom

Deputy Police Chief

Brian Eckblom

I am a progressive police executive committed to serving the needs of our community, while understanding the challenges of the job and fully supporting our officers as they navigate the complexities of policing in Connecticut. I bring public safety, private industry, and non-profit leadership skills to the table.

I have been a member of the South Windsor Police Department since 2004. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History from Bates College and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) from Central Connecticut State University. I started in law enforcement as a reserve police officer in Wells, Maine (1996) and as a seasonal law enforcement ranger in Yellowstone National Park (1997). I also volunteered with the Manchester Fire Department Eighth District (CT) as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and firefighter while employed at the family manufacturing company. I have served on the boards of several non-profits.

At SWPD I have served as a traffic crash reconstructionist, a school resource officer, a patrol supervisor, a Field Training Officer (FTO) and as a certified instructor. I have supervised the evening shift, the Youth and Victims Unit, served as the Training Manager, and as Commander of the Special Services Division.
